Nicole Martin, LE, LNMT
Aesthetics, Craniosacral Therapy, Mechanical Link
Nicole began her massage "career" at age 3 when she used to rub her mother's shoulders. Her professional interest was sparked at age 14 when she suffered from a debilitating pain in her hip that could not be discovered by the x-rays and bone scans of traditional medicine. Finally her piano teacher gave her mother information about a craniosacral therapist. After 1 session Nicole could walk without excruciating pain and after a few more treatments the pain was completely gone. This sparked her interest for the human body and its functions.
Nicole graduated with B.S. degrees in Biology and Chemistry. During college and afterwards she worked with the local fire and EMS department. In 1997 Nicole took a 3 months to travel Europe and decided that it was time to start following her passion for massage and body work. She graduated from the Academy of Somatic Healing Arts in Atlanta, GA where she did a combined program of neuromuscular therapy, sports and performance, and Swedish massage. This is also when she began taking classes through the Upledger Institute in craniosacral therapy. Nicole worked in Atlanta as a therapist for 5 months before moving back to the Chicago area.
While working at Elegante Salon and Day Spa in Naperville Nicole decided that since she was working with the largest organ of the human body, the skin, she should treat that as well. Upon completion of an aesthetics program in 2003 Nicole became a licensed aesthetician. As an aesthetician Nicole considers herself to be a "skin therapist." As the largest organ and the body's first line of defense against the elements, proper care of the skin is essential. The skin also reflects the state of one's internal health. To focus on the skin, is to think about all of the structures that are underneath it; muscles, bones, nerves, arteries, internal organs. All things working synergistically together produce a beautiful appearance.
In 2004 Nicole began her training in Mechanical Link and is now an avid practitioner and life-long student of "the link".
Nicole soon became frustrated with the traditional day spa industry's focus on external beauty. Desiring to use her skills and training to create a space that catered to the health of the whole person, Nicole opened Naperville Cosmetic Medicine in 2007. There she was able to focus her practice on total health, guided by her belief that the body works as a whole and that true beauty comes from within. Nicole's unique approach to aesthetic medicine combines facials and other skin treatments with massages or manual therapy to increase the impact and health benefits. At Naperville Cosmetic Medicine she partnered with physicians and other health professionals to create a referral and educational system.
Nicole is pleased to join the team at the Raby Institute. She sees this move as a milestone on her journey to fulfill her vision of whole body healing from the inside out.
Nicole Martin is a licensed Massage therapist and Esthetician with the state of Illinois.
