Patient Care Coordinator

"Not all of us can do great things, but we can all do small things with great love." -Mother Theresa

Patient Care Coordinator Raquel lives by the philosophy that each of us is here to be of service to someone else. "It doesn't have to be anything big," she explains. "The smallest act of kindness can make a big difference to someone else."

Raquel views her work at the Raby Institute as part of that philosophy. With each patient phone call that she answers, she is constantly helping others--answering questions, scheduling appointments, and providing a reassuring voice on the line. "I am the face of the Raby Institute to somebody who calls in. Each caller is different, and I treat each person individually," she says.

For the three years before Raquel started working at the Raby Institute, she fielded after-hours calls as part of the call center. She says she was drawn to the Raby Institute because of her own experiences with health issues.

"I like that this practice offers a more holistic approach to medicine. There's a broader spectrum than prescriptions for pills," Raquel says. Growing up, she adds, her family maintained an alternative view to medicine, utilizing home remedies to treat fevers, for example.

Now at the Raby Institute, Raquel says that she has changed the way she thinks of herself and her health. She enjoys spending time with her family outside of work, and plans to pursue a degree in healthcare administration.

"I observe my body and mind with new awareness since becoming a patient of the Raby Institute. I see my own health and healing as something I help create everyday."
