The Role of Naprapathic Manipulation to Restore Normal Joint Motion

Our bodies are divinely-made machines designed to sense and feel any number of sensations - from love to the ability to withstand pain.  The human body is supported by a very intricate support network called connective tissue.  Examples of connective tissue include muscles, ligaments, tendons, fascia (the fibrous layer between muscles), blood and lymphatic tissue. Each of the tissues plays a vital role in the optimal functioning of the body.  So when physical or emotional stress, poor diet, under or over exercising, car accidents, repetitive movements or other types of trauma cause these structures  to contract, shorten or tighten, the repercussions can be felt anywhere in the body.

Our symptoms can range from acute neck or back pain, headaches, generalized stiffness or sore muscles.   If the source of pain is not addressed, acute pain may turn chronic.  Most often, these symptoms occur due to the loss of normal joint motion and the subsequent lack of revitalizing blood flow to the tissue.   It is the lack of necessary joint movement that begins to irritate nerve tissue which then can affect the normal physiology of every organ system in the body.

Naprapathic manipulative techniques (NMT) are designed to remove these contractures to allow the joints of the spine and extremities to move freely and without pain.  NMT consists of specific, hand-on manipulation of the contracted tissue to restore free and unrestricted movement of the joints. Naprapathy is different from chiropractic in that the underlying connective tissue restriction is first removed before any manipulation to the boney structure is performed.  Most patients find a significant decrease in pain with a few treatments.
