Chuck Dumont, MD

Integrative Pediatrics, Medical Acupuncture

Dr. Chuck Dumont has held a long interest in complementary/alternative medicine, and for more than 25 years that interest has influenced his integrative approach to pediatrics. He supplements his pediatric practice with training in mind/body medicine, medical acupuncture, functional medicine, and homeopathy, in addition to other integrative modalities.

Dr. Dumont places high value on the interaction he has with his patients and their parents. By taking the time to answer questions, explain practices and really listen, Dr. Dumont builds healing relationships based on trust and good will.

Early is his life, Dr. Dumont taught himself meditation and mind/body techniques. As a physician, he became professionally committed to integrative medicine as he began to see the ways in which conventional Western medicine was limited in its effectiveness of treating the whole person

Dr. Dumont graduated from the Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia in 1988. He joined the faculty at Columbus Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University in 1994 after completing both his pediatric residency and pediatric gastroenterology fellowship at those institutions. In 2000, he came to Loyola University Medical Center where he was associate professor in the department of Pediatrics. There he served as director of the Pediatric Integrative Medicine Program, medical director of pediatric nutrition and medical director of Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Center at Ronald McDonald Children’s Hospital, Loyola University Medical Center. He is currently medical director of the Easter Seals DuPage Feeding Clinic which has been ongoing for nearly 20 years.

His formal training in Integrative medicine began with mind/body medicine at the Harvard Mind/Body Institute. Dr. Dumont then went on to receive formal training in other alternative modalities including medical hypnosis (American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and the Society of Behavioral and Developmental Pediatrics), acupuncture (UCLA Medical Acupuncture Program) with additional training in Korean Hand Acupuncture (a needle-free form of acupuncture), and homeopathy (American Institute of Homeopathy and the Center for Education and Development of Clinical Homeopathy – CEDH), and Functional Medicine through the Institute for Functional Medicine.

Dr. DuMont is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Board of Homeotherapeutics, the Center for Education and Development of Clinical Homeopathy – CEDH the American Board of Medical Acupuncture.
