Maria comes to the Raby Institute with more than a decade of experience as a medical assistant, first focused on ear-nose-throat and then gynecology. The Raby Institute gives her the opportunity to incorporate the type of medicine she practices at home, looking at lifestyle changes and alternative treatments before jumping to medication.
She hopes to offer patients-especially those new to integrative medicine-an educational experience. “The more I learn and educate myself, the more I can provide to patients,” she says.
Maria graduated from Olympia College in Skokie, Illinois in 2004. She chose to work in medicine after all three of her children were born pre-maturely. She had been in and out of the hospital with them since day one, sometimes staying in for weeks at a time.
Those experiences-and the stress and uncertainty that went along with them-inspired her to help care for others and better their healthcare experience however possible.
When not at work, Maria pours her passion into cooking. She runs a catering company on the side, which provides Puerto Rican, Mexican, and Cuban cuisine for a variety of functions small and large-from family barbeques to weddings.
