FirstLine Success: Positive Changes Making a Difference

(October 2009)

The Raby Institute launched the FirstLine Therapy program in June of this year as a way to support patients in improving their overall health and wellness, achieve health goals, and reduce health risks. The 12-week intensive lifestyle change program focuses on empowering people to take control of their health by teaching them about proper diet, use of nutritional supplements, exercise, and stress-reduction techniques. The program includes regular sessions with a trained FirstLine Therapy practitioner and provides patients with tools to track their progress, tips for success, reminders, and support to help them reach their health goals.

Since June, 70 people have enrolled in the program and are experiencing life-changing results that are grounded in practical actions, measurable goals and sustainable habits over the long term. Hear from Cortni, one of our patients, about how the FirstLine Therapy program at the Raby Institute helped her dramatically improve her health!

"I am 30 years old and have Type I Diabetes. When I started seeing Dr. Raby, I was in bad shape. I was nearly 60 lbs overweight, my hemoglobin A1c was 10.9 and I had both high cholesterol and high blood pressure. I started the FLT program in June 2009. I have lost almost 20 pounds, and my last A1c was 7.7. My blood pressure and cholesterol are both back in normal ranges. The best part is that I don't have to diet, I don't ever feel hungry, and I have more energy than I've had in two years. The program has made a drastic change in my body and my life!"

From a clinical perspective, Cortni has achieved many impressive milestones in a short amount of time. She lost 14 pounds of fat, and reduced her water weight by one pound. She remains well-hydrated and has not lost muscle mass. Her Body Mass Index (BMI) has decreased by two points. Since April 2009, her hemoglobin A1C has decreased by 2.8 points. Morning fasting blood sugars now range from 100-150 in comparison to 150-200 prior to starting the FLT program. Another benefit has been a reduction in her total cholesterol by 30 points.

Success stories like Cortni's underline the effectiveness of the FirstLine Therapy program to improve overall health and wellness and help patients create sustainable lifestyle changes. To find out more about FirstLine Therapy visit our website at www.RabyIntegrativeMedicine.com.
